Welcome to Front Paddock, a delightful cafe nestled at 165C Matangi Road, Tamahere 3284, New Zealand. This charming spot is not just a cafe; it’s a community gathering place that invites you to pause, sip, and savor the peaceful surroundings. Whether you’re on a journey to Hobbiton or just looking for a cozy nook to unwind, Front Paddock offers an experience that combines exceptional coffee, delicious delights, and a touch of farmyard fun.

Upon stepping inside, you are greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, whose genuine hospitality sets the tone for your visit. The space boasts both indoor and outdoor seating, allowing you to bask in the sun or enjoy the cozy interiors as you indulge in their offerings. Speaking of offerings, the menu at Front Paddock is a treat for the senses, featuring aromatic coffees that leave you wanting more. From the rich, robust espresso to the velvety smooth chai, every sip is crafted to perfection.

But let’s not forget the baked goodness — customers rave about the cinnamon scrolls, claimed by Kane Richards as "the best" he’s ever had. Pair that with a cup of their fantastic coffee, and you’ve got a match made in culinary heaven. For those with dietary preferences, Front Paddock shines bright, offering a variety of milk alternatives such as almond, coconut, and oat, catering wonderfully to those with dietary restrictions. Barbara Kinzett appreciates this thoughtful approach, making it easy for everyone to enjoy their time without compromise.

Families will find Front Paddock a welcoming oasis thanks to its playground and friendly animals. As Sophie Dewstow-Wright points out, it's the perfect spot for children, with the added entertainment of brave chickens that love to explore. You might just find the littler ones giggling as they try to protect their snacks! It’s a charming element that adds to the cafe’s quaint, shire-like atmosphere, as noted by Quentin, who enjoyed his hot chocolate while appreciating the goats that graze nearby — a delightful sight that makes your visit feel like a charming getaway.

With a strong commitment to providing a family-friendly environment complemented by good food and drink, Front Paddock is more than just a cafe; it’s a local gem embraced by the community. As J G succinctly put it, you’re in for “awesome coffees” and a friendly atmosphere. So whether you're grabbing a quick bite before hitting the road or looking for a cozy weekend retreat, be sure to stop by Front Paddock — your taste buds and your spirit will thank you!

Good coffee and Chai. Daughter dairy intolerant so being able to have almond/ coconut or oat milk a bonus. Love the scones and indoor outdoor seating options.

Without doubt the best cinnamon scroll I’ve ever had, the coffee is fantastic and the staff are extremely friendly. Great little spot for the whole family. Such a creative concept with the animals

Great hot chocolate. Appreciated the option of cinnamon or chocolate on the cappuccino. Bonus goats next door. Lovely stop on the way to Hobbitton. Feels like a quaint shire stop.

Fab spot for families. Hot drinks, seating, parking, playground and animals to pat. Be careful - the chickens are brave and love to nab your food. Especially out of the hands of toddlers!

This place was exactly what I needed: excellent coffee (well priced at $5.50), professional barista, quiet place to sit and think, super clean aesthetic. Plus a rabbit nibbling grass outside the window. All is well in this world.
